EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING
>Out-of-School Youth Program

The Out-of-School Youth Program is an intensive training, job development, and case management program for 16 to 21-year-olds. Clients include high school drop-outs or high school graduates who are having difficulty obtaining or keeping a job.

The program consists of six weeks of cognitive skills training, individual career counseling, job development and placement, GED classes, referral to other needed services such as substance abuse treatment or mental health counseling, and transportation assistance.

Participants must meet all WIA eligibility requirements.

This program, offered in Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, and Alexander Counties, is designed for those who are low-income and/or have a documented disability, are out of school, and are having difficulty finding or keeping a job.

This program helps clients overcome motivational programs and negative attitudes about school and work.
