SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT PROGRAM
>Drug Treatment Court - (STAR Program)

The Drug Treatment Court or S.T.A.R. program is a court-supervised treatment program offered in Catawba County for offenders with a substance abuse problem.

S.T.A.R. stands for Supervision, Treatment, Addiction, and Recovery. It is a voluntary program supervised by a Drug Treatment Court team.

The mission of the S.T.A.R. program is to help participants achieve long-term sobriety; improve their quality of life, including improved family and community relations; and become responsible and productive citizens.

The goal of the S.T.A.R. program is to help offenders become clean and sober and reclaim their lives. Staying in the program depends on how well offenders deal with the structure that is added to their lives.

The program is a 12 to 18 month commitment including weekly substance abuse counseling and random drug tests.

A case manager can also assist with referrals to other agencies for employment or education assistance.
